I’m ViVa which is an amalgamation of my blog, Vintage Vapours!
My interest in the 1940s and 1950s began a few years ago when I learnt to jive as part of a feature I was writing about. My passion for finding the perfect item has often left me in a right state – either deeply disappointed if something won’t fit or euphoric at a great find. Such are the highs and lows of a wonderful hobby, yet I wouldn’t change my love for it.
Whilst the 1940s and 1950s were not exactly the most emancipated of times for a gal to be living in (and were even bleaker if you happened to be of a darker hue!) I like to take the best parts of that time and mix them with my modern life 🙂 I quickly became hooked on how a girl could wear clothing that generally covered her up yet made one feel so feminine. I love to shop anyway but the world of vintage really took my breath away.
I decided to start this blog as a way of pulling together my passion for new reproduction vintage clothing ( I do buy the odd truly vintage item but I like new stuff that looks old!) as well as the world in which it sits so that includes learning to jive, vintage events, fantastic singers and musicians, my favourite venues and sellers and loads more. Living in Bedfordshire and having no mates who have any interest in the era my blog is my way of connecting with like-minded souls and hoping that you get something out of it too.
Please feel free to leave comments on great places to go, shop and of course music to rock to or feel free to email email@example.com 🙂
